but what is Bildung and why does it matter?

In your country groups, research the definition of the word “Bildung”.

1a) Explain in your own words, what it means and its origin.

1b) How would you define “Bildung” in the context of today’s education: In what ways do you see your education fostering “Bildung”? (and perhaps how does it not)

1c) Are there other ways, apart from school, in which you see yourself being exposed to “Bildung”?

2) Bildung is often associated with the world of literature. Research what a “Bildungsroman” is – and try to find an example of a Bildungsroman.
