    POLAND

Polish children in December get their presents twice - on Christmas Day (25th) and on 6th December which is a day celebrated to remember Święty Mikołaj (Polish name for St. Nicolas), the bishop of Mira. Of course, over the years,  the image of the bishop was replaced with a world-wide known image of a plump man in red clothes with a silver beard and the bag full of presents given to those who deserve them...

The three kings were going to Bethlehem to see little Jesus. They got lost and stopped in a little house where an old female lived, they asked for the way, but she couldn't help them. As they set out on their way, the old female understood who they were looking for. She tried to follow them, because she wanted to join them, but she couldn't find them, so she walked and walked around and stopped at every house to leave a gift. Every year on the night between 5 and 6 January she goes from house to house to leave a gift, sweets and chocolates for the good children and coal for the bad ones.
