School philosophy

At the basis of this school is the concept of Positive Psychology. We want to create a school environment that will produce happy and successful students. Studies reveal that  "compared to unhappy students, happier students pay better attention, are more creative, and have greater levels of community involvement. The emphasis on positive psychology interventions in education increases engagement, creates more curious students and helps develop an overall love of learning (Fisher, 2015)."

How can we accomplish the above mentioned overall happiness?

The answer is easy - through MAGIC.

Positive psychologists say that character strenghts are our SUPER POWERS, they come from our heart and they make us happy.

This is what we are going to work on in this school - activation of those super powers that will in their turn make us happy. In the beginning we will accomplish that with the help of our Magic Wands, but in time work on the gradual interiorisation of this magic feeling and becoming genuinely happy and successful students, true inhabitants of the Happy Student Land, faithful disciples of Mr. Septim Perma and his wonderful SMILE staff.

We will develop and use our inner character strenghts, our SUPER POWERS such as zest, grit, optimism, self-control, gratitude, social intelligence and curiosity to become better learners, communicators, collaborators and more successful, magic and magnificent people overall.

Each SMILE HOUSE bears the name of one of the 7 above mentioned character strengths and it will promote its value in SMILE community in chats, games, pictures, videos at the SMILE events, contests and tournaments.
