    Biography by Poland

    Janina Ochojska was born in 1955 in Poland. She was working as an astronom at Nicolaus Copernicus University. She has been a disabled person from early childhood. In 1984 she went to France for surgery. There she came across the idea of humanitarian aid. As a volunteer, she worked for the EquiLibre foundation. In 1992 she  founded the Polish Humanitarian Organization, which has provided humanitarian and development assistance to people in 44 countries and still conducts missions in other ones. From 2019 she has been a Member of the European Parliament of the 9th term. Last year she announced that she was suffering from cancer, but she does not intend to give up her activity.
