MARIE CURIE

  • BIOGRAPHY 

    Maria Sklodowska was born in 1867 in Warsaw. Her parents were teachers.
    She did very well in school. She dreamt of studying science but at the time in Warsaw women cannot study at university.
    She left Varsaw with one of her sisters to study in Paris. She studied maths and physics.
    She met Pierre Curie and married him. She continued to study.
    She discovered radioactivity with her husband. They got the Nobel Prize for their discoveries.
    Her husband died in an accident and she continued their work.
    She became a university professor, which was an event at that time.
    During the 1st World War, she created radiological cars to take x-rays of the wounded.
    She received a second Nobel Prize.
