Santa is talking about Christmas
On Christmas Eve (Badni vecher) December 24th, whole family gathers around the festive table. Traditionally, the dinner is meatless and has an odd number of dishes in it. There's a special bread called 'pita' which has a coin and dogwood branch baked in it. It is believed that the person who gets the chunk with the coin will be the richest and the person who find the dogwood branch will have a good health for the next year!
Young man from the family brings tree (called “bdenie’’) in the house (normally from an oak, elm or pear tree).
The eldest in the household burns incense in every room to chase away evil spirits.
In the midnight the household is visited by the “Koledari”. Koledari perform songs and wish people health, wealth and happiness.
