  • IES LOS CRISTIANOS

The school is located in southern Tenerife (Canary Islands) and offers studies from Secondary to Upper Secondary School; a 2-year course for SEN students called ‘Aula Enclave’ and some Vocational studies on First Aid, Gardening and Administration. During the afternoon the school has Adult High School and some studies of Languages. Extracurricular activities, mainly in the sports field, help our students stand out in Baseball and Athletics, two sports where some of them compete even at national level. Upper Secondary School studies are divided into 3 different branches: Humanities studies, Science and Arts (Graphics and Drawing, Music, Dance and Drama).

Participating in an Erasmus+ partnership is of the utmost importance for our school since it will help students to be more open-minded towards other cultures, develop their critical thinking, their communicative skills and their cooperation level; local school support new teaching methodologies, especially if they involve learning by having fun and entertaining; families, local/ regional authorities like the Canary Islands Government familiarise with the partnerships and they areeager to help and participate as well.

The school has participated in three Comenius projects focusing on Environment, Tolerance and Healthy Habits, and we have just finnished a KA219 on Tourism. European projects are seen as an opportunity of meeting students from other countries, learning a foreign language as the only mean of communication with them and not only as a boring subject they have to study. During the last years, these projects have joined the Islands with the European Continent and therefore a more definite consciousness of European Citizenship has been developed. Something we consider one of our main achieved goals because our location, far away from the Continent, makes it very difficult.
