I.P.S.A.R Costa Smeralda

        The I.P.S.A.R Costa Smeralda of Arzachena is a vocational School with 700 students and 100 teachers situated in the north of Sardinia, Italy , in the heart of the touristic area Costa Smeralda. It carries out its role both in education and work training for students aged 13 to 18 , in order to meet the needs of highly qualified tourist businesses in different sectors: catering , kitchen, bar/dining room , tourism and reception .The school has proved its ability to train and educate professionals to a very high level both in tourism and in catering services. Students are always in touch with the working world through training courses organized by the school with the support of hotels, travel agencies, tour operators and restaurants, all are selectively chosen. In the last few years many students are attending traineeship abroad. It is also a boarding school; some students come from different areas of the region . Other students come from the nearby villages and they commute everyday; there is also a percentage of migrants.

      Extra-curricular activities are provided; in fact our school is not only an educational organization but also a local institution that promotes local food and culture. Joining this project will allow our students to improve their knowledge of the culture, the language and the way of living in other countries in Europe. This experience will widen their horizons both in their present personal area and in their future perspective employment. Students will have the opportunity to carry out many practical activities aimed to prevent failure and leading to success. Teachers will improve their competences and communicative and relational skills. Participants involved in the project are permanent teachers and young teachers and they are looking for an improvement of the quality in education, especially of migrants and special needs students. They are eager to implement new methodologies for a better inclusion.

            The key people in charge of running the project in the school will be : teachers of foreign languages, support teachers, physical education teachers. Some of them are permanent teachers working in the school from several years, some are young teachers. In case one of them leaves his post in the future, he will be replaced by another teacher of the same subject. Our school boasts a wide participation in national and international projects: cooking contests and competions, national and international tourism fairs, bartender competitions, sports events. Teachers involved in this project are open minded towards the European dimension of the school and are looking for an improvement of the school quality. Some of them have a wide experience and knowledge on how to involve students in extracurricular activities. The coordinator of this project encourages both students and teachers to take an active part in the project.
