DEMOCRACY AND ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP
- True democracy is that all people know their rights and freedoms and use it in the most correct way when the time comes.
- Active citizens express their opinions, they vote, they participate in social events, they help other people, they know their rights, they respect each others rights and opinions, they protest if there is injustice.
- Active citizenship means people getting involved in their local communities and democracy at all levels, from towns to cities to nationwide activity. Active citizenship can be as small as a campaign to clean up your street or as big as educating young people about democratic values, skills and participation. Active citizenship is one of the most important steps towards healthy societies especially in new democracies.
- It is important for people to know their rights and freedoms and use then properly. Democracy starts when people understand that everyone has rights and responsibilities .
- Pure democracy is a form of democracy in which people decide on policy initiatives directly.
- Democracy is necessary for order and peace. Since people are human, they should be valued and their right to speak. But in order for an individual to grasp and implement democracy correctly, he/she should know his personal and social right and apply these rights correctly at the right time
- What are the characteristics of active citizenry? Active citizenry are members of society who take charge of their future and are the agents of what they want to happen in their communities. It requires inspirational leadership at all levels and every aspect of life.
- Real democracy is sharing responsibilities with each other. I'm a young citizen and I think that I know my rights. Characteristics of an active citizen are being an active democratic actor. Democratic equality means that everyone is even and it is important so that everyone can be equal.
- If we want to be good citizens, we should be empowered with good citizenship values and knowledge of local civics, to learn to be an integral part of every community.
- The responsibilities of us young citizens, are those of respecting the laws imposed by the state and respecting other citizens
- The characteristics of an active citizen are the exercise oh the right to vote, join an association, a union, express their point of view, defend their opinion.
- The individual attitude of citizen is very important for the peaceful of society.
- Every man must be free to live and express himself freely within society. Every man must also be free to actively participate in the choices that determine the government of the state to which he belongs, and he must be free to participate in public life, holding positions and electing his own representatives (right to vote).
