WHO AM I? Portfolio Project The due date is ________________________
Your assignment is to create a portfolio that tells people about who you are. The contents can include your writings, passages from writings by other people, your drawings, clip art, your photographs, illustrations from newspapers or magazines, or any other materials that will fit into the folder and help explain who you are. You can use words or drawings even when the directions below ask you to describe some part of your life. The portfolio can have as many pages as you wish, but it must have at least one titled page for every part listed below (12-page minimum). It may be typed or written by hand (any color). Warning: no excuses! (if your computer breaks, do it by hand; if your dog eats it, it’s still due on time; etc.)
1. Create your own design or border: Be sure to include your name, class, period, and the date the portfolio is finished.
2. Table of Contents: List the titles of each page of the portfolio and the pages on which they fall. You may wish to illustrate the titles.
3. Here I Am :Include a picture of yourself. Also, list some vital data (such as: date of birth, age, general physical description (eye/hair color, etc), city in which you live, hobbies, etc.
4. About Me: Your biopoem would work well here. If you don’t want to use that format, just use the information: discuss what you love, feel, fear, need, give, and wish for.
5. My People: Use your Family Tree. Include pictures and describe members of your family (pets too) and/or other people who are important to you.
6. My Heritage: Talk with family members or do library research and tell something of your family’s history – it can be where they’re from (states/countries), or an explanation of your ethnic background.
7. My Name: Research your name. What does it mean? Does the definition reflect any part of your personality? Discuss how your parents picked your name for you. (internet research = etymology)
8. Who I Am: Describe how you see yourself (what kind of person are you?). What do you know about yourself (what are your values? why do you react to situations, people, and things as you do?). What are your strengths and why? What are your weaknesses and why? What motto do you have?
9. My Favorite: Things List some of your passions. What are the activities, subjects, and areas you enjoy or in which you succeed? List your favorite types of music (or groups), television shows, movies or movie categories, classes/school subjects, books/characters, interesting sports to watch/play, favorite foods, animals, celebrities, inventions, fashion items, etc. Share your interests.
10. Changing: Describe ways in which you would like to grow or change over the next 10 years. What kind of life will you have at age 25? Consider school, career, family, travel, etc.
11. Steps to Change: Describe steps that you could take that might help you to change in the ways you want. How can you improve as you grow older?
12. Tomorrow: Imagine that it is 20 years from today (you are 35 years old). Write a letter to a friend describing your life up to this point.
