C4 - Rebuilding Spain from its ashes (Spain)

  • The activities in Spain will take a closer look at the civil war and study how this conflict still influences today's Spanish multicultural society. How do the other partner schools perceive the same conflict? Students will explore the Spanish transition to democracy, as well. Specially, we'll focus on its threats, such as the Basque terrorist band ETA or the coup of 1981.
Under the Spanish path to Democracy, a curious thing happened in Consuegra, the school tawn. It was the only Spanish city that votes “NO” to the democracy. But after a thorough investigation, it came out that the local authorities forged the result against the citizen's will. Fortunately, the fake result was exposed. As it can be seen, the Spanish transition to democracy was a time for understanding each other, and it was the time when Spain was rebuilt from its ashes, after the war and General Franco's regime. Objects to be met during C4 will be "Active citizenship,
    democratic values and fundamental rights".
