C1 - New Teaching Methodologies in History Classroom (Croatia)

  • The objective for this activity is modernisation of education. History is a traditional subject in school, but new methodologies will contribute to making history a modern and important subject. History is paramout to understanding our present and future.

     

    Students will prepare a presentation of an interview with a family member or another person who has witnessed or experienced a criseis or dramatic episode such as war,
    terror attack or similar. The interview will aim to find out how they dealt with those memories rationally and what ethical principles could be applied when trying to reason based on emotions.

     

    Teachers will prepare for this activity by reading the book “Teaching controversial issues – developing effective training for teachers and school
    leaders" (Council of Europe and the European Comission).

     

    During the stay in Croatia the teachers will meet experts and work together:
    - Presentation: "Teaching about choices and moral dilemmas: difficulty or professional challenge?" - by expert Valerija Presečki-Turk
    - Workshop:"Violence in: 90ies in region and the Homeland War in Croatia" - by an expert on historical events and expert on methodology
    - Jasenovac: - how to make visit to a museum an active learning activity - a workshop by museum experts, work in international teams
    - PBL and outdoor learning: Learning Designer for outdoor learning - a presentation
    - New Teaching Methodologies: outdoor learning in Karlovac  - a hands-on workshop and designing the lesson plan
    - teching ssignments: giving lessons to Croatian students
