  • THE SUBMERSIBLE BELL (FOLKLORE)

An old woman once lived in Kražiai and the town had very large bells. It was or wasn’t it, whether it was magic or a spell, but it already happened that one day people started ringing bells non-stop. After a while, both the bells and those who called rang out of the bell tower and went down into the river. There is a river near Kražiai. Well, everyone drowned: both the bells and those who wanted to pull it out. How much other people bothered with those bells, but there was no way to pull them out. And now they are still there those bells and by no means can they be pulled out.

Project students (49 (from 6-9 grades)) had a challenging task to create the legend of the town. For that reason, they were invited to the M. K. Sarbievijus Cultural Centre to meet our town historian and had a lecture about the most interesting our town history facts.

After that Lithuanian and History teachers encouraged students to write our town legend. The art teacher helped children to make illustrations and the 9th grade Project participants translated the legend to English and made the video.
