  • Creating the album of drawings and photos

Creating Kražiai album of drawings and photos was one of the most engaging tasks for the Project students. 25 (6-9 grade) students were motivated to show their ability to illustrate the surroundings of our town. Geography, History and Art teachers guided young learners from gathering information and exploring the most visited and beautiful places till the final product - organizing the exhibition.

Kražiai municipality occupies almost 24 thousand ha area, there are 154 villages, 3 small towns and about 2750 inhabitants. There are a lot of natural monuments of great significance: Didysis, Spunčio, Šventragiai and Greitiškė oaks, Medžiokalnis hill, Paginskiai and Girgždutė reserves, Pašilė, Brukai and Kalnyčia forests.

Our country side is very beautiful:  there is a big Lake Karklėnai, the Wind Pond, the river Kražantė, Ančia and Akmena.

The Medžiokalnis hill is the most important natural object in Kražiai. It is a big and old forest.

This hill has been declared as a botanical sanctuary since 1960. It covers 79 ha area. There are 335 plant species, 12 species are protected.

Students collected a lot of legends and stories about Medžiokalnis.

People say, that there was the holy oak and holy water sprang from under its roots. There was the holy fire and the statue of the goddess Medeine used to stand...

Today Medžiokalnis is a favourite youth place to gather in Kražiai. This place is also very popular with special celebrations such as St. John's Day.
