Guided visit of the on-site farm (Director of the farm) and Presentation of Farming simulator game

  • French first year students were involved in this activity. It did not disturb their timetable as they usually have lessons every tuesday morning with their 2 mathematics teachers and their English teacher. Foreign teachers and their students discovered the onsite farm (cows, calves, poultry, bees…) during a guided visit made by the Director of the farm, Mr SAUVEE. He explained how new technologies are used in farms nowadays (e.g. milking robot).

Students and some teachers realised that having a farm means a lot of managing and the use of new technologies. Therefore, STEM are also used in agriculture on site.

First years students made a presentation about “Farming simulator” in order to show that you need to run a farm like a company. Some tools (statistics, data, accounting documents) can help you to make good decisions throughout the year while being a virtual farmer. You also need to choose your equipment according technical specifications to make them fit your needs.

Students and teachers discovered this computer game that is quite technical and also requires some skills in management and accounting in order to succeed.
