  • The 8th year students in science, using the CLIL methodology, investigated how we could damage Earth's resources and about ecosystem imbalances. Then presented their conclusions to the class.

Check out the theatre play Class 8th A created on environment preservation! Students wrote the play, designed the scenery, acted out the different characters and had plenty of fun while simultaneously called people's attention to the importance of taking care of our forests. They used the app Toontastic to create this video.

Our class (8C) was very happy to meet our Turkish eTwinning partners via Skype in the English lesson - what an amazing experience!

Some students also cooperated with our Special Needs schoolmates in special projects. This one was about Art.

8th graders got informed about the SDG #13, 14 and 15 and prepared some presentations about their research.

Flipgrid, a digital space for students to share and reflect on ideas with their teacher and peers, was used to promote discussion on the global goals. Students were asked which goal they cared most about and what they could do to help our world be a better one. Some students wandered the school, chose a spot, and responded to the prompt. They spoke up for the global goals by recording short spontaneous video reflections with their mobile phones.

Click on the videos and check out some of the answers class 8th D gave!

Feel free to reply or record your own answer if you want, since the topic is still active.

After their field trip to a school farm and a SDG week, which occurred from the 2nd to the 9th of May, in our school, students from classes 8th D and 8th H, undertook their final project: a vertical vegetable garden.

For that purpose an old wall bars was used and reused. Our P.E. teacher, Sérgio Chumbinho, helped the students out with the polishing and the painting. Regarding planting and caring, students discussed a great deal. In the end, they agreed to grow strawberries, German and Portuguese thyme, Asian curry and lovely African violets, azaleas and petuneas. And this is the final result! Isn't it awesome??

Given students' desire to build a vertical garden, here are some works class 8D did in the Science class regarding Goal 12. Naturally, students' research focused particularly on Organic Farming.

Some students also decided to give some advice on how to live green and reduce our carbon footprint. Check it out!

Class 8th D has created a collection of Christmas cards based on the Christmas decorations they had made out of recycled materials.

Later on, on the 14th December students visited an elderly care home in our community to give the elderly people these Christmas cards with messages of hope and love.

The elderly people were very happy to meet them and found these cards very special, since they were created by the students themselves.

It was an unforgettable and heart-warming experience!

They created beautiful postcards! Here are some of them...

They had so much fun making the Christmas decorations from recycled materials!

Classes 8th D and 8th H decided to learn about organic farming and build a vertical garden. Thus, on the 5th November, they went on a field trip to Serralves Foundation school farm to learn how to grow plants in a sustainable way.

A memorable experience! Get a glimpse of how it went!
