Memories of Sebastian Bluhm, 8e
Sunday, 27.10.2019
When I got up early in the morning on 04.10.2019 at 4:00, I was still in the Polish capital of culture of 2016 Wroclaw, in German Breslau. I had a quick breakfast with my family and showered, then we made our way to the airport. My uncle drove us there. After we said goodbye to our relatives, we checked in and waited for our plane. After about one hour flight time we arrived in Dortmund. My father picked us up at 9:00 am by car at the airport. We drove home immediately. After we arrived in Duisburg, my mother made lunch. Afterwards I immediately packed my things and my father took me to the agreed meeting place teacher parking lot of our school. Together with Mr Yetisen, my father drove on to Weeze Airport on the Lower Rhine. We drove about 45 minutes. Once there, we all gathered at the entrance and then checked in. We flew with Ryanair to Palermo and arrived there after 2.5 hours flying time. We were all picked up by a minibus of our Italian host school and brought together with our host families. After getting to know my host family, they drove me to the center to eat pizza. Then we drove to their apartment, which was nice and big, the mother showed me in detail. Since I had a long day, I went to sleep and was looking forward to the next day.
Monday, 28.10.2019
At 7:00 am, I was woken up, went to take a shower, and then had breakfast. My host family explained to me what was planned for the day. We were driven to the town hall and we all met there. After some waiting we were invited to the house and got an idea about each host country Spain, Slovakia, Italy and Germany. When the show was over I went across the city to the school of my exchange student. I saw interesting buildings on the way. Arrived at school we took some group photos. Then the teachers introduced the school. The school had a nice sports field and was very spacious. Then we drove home, his mother had prepared food.
Tuesday, 29.10.2019
On Tuesday we were taken to another school and picked olives from trees there. After we finished the strenuous activity, we visited an oil factory and learned how to make olive oil. I found that very interesting. Afterwards, we were divided into groups and prepared salad, which we then ate together. We were happy about the successful preparation.
Wednesday, 30.10.2019
On Wednesday we all drove to Palermo to visit a museum of history. It was interesting. Then we could explore the city. After about an hour we all met in a large park. After that we took a bus back to our families. Palermo was very impressive!
Thursday, 31.10.2019
On Thursday, we all worked at school on an internet project with different nations. Later we drove to the center with the homestay's father and ate delicious burgers at McDonalds.
Friday, 01.11.2019
We said goodbye to our host families, met with our German tour group and drove together to the center. After 6 hours at leisure, we continued to the airport to Palermo. We checked in and waited for the flight. In the late evening we reached the airport Weeze and were driven home by some parents shortly before midnight. An exciting week was behind us.

Did you notice any differences in comparison with your country?
On the 27th of October we flew to Italy. We all met briefly and werethen assigned to families. With the host familyies we went to eat something or did something elseto get to know the culture.
1st day:
The next morning we made an exursion to a palace in Bagheria,were the hosts had prepared something to welcome us.
2nd day:
On Tuesday the 29th of October we picked olives in the front garden of the school and drove to a factory. There we were shown how olives oil is made from olive.
3rd day:
On Wednesday we drove Parlermo to see the market, the city and the botanic garden. There were a lot of plants, among others some Ceiba specisa.
4th day:
On thursday we visited a museum. On the last day we saidgoodbye to our families and drove to a shopping centre in Palermo. In the evening we flew home again. We learned a lot about Italy and the plants that grow there.
