    September/2020 - February/2021

Prolongation of our project was approved so we were so eager to continue again in project activities realisation.

We annouced the prolongation to public through our school website

    Project prolongation announcement

September and October were cool because the schools in Slovakia were after long distance learning opened again.

Our school garden was full od weed so we decided to get the school garden in order

and get rid off unwanted plants and weeds

and prepared our school garden for further rebuilding and possible autumn sowing

Unfortunatelly in October all schools in Slovakia were closed again so we were able to provide only online lessons again

The lesson about the importance of the soil for plants and its the most important properties

The gained knowledge about vegetables and fruits grown in our gardens in Slovakia we checked through the questionnare

and we started to prepare the final project output - textbook about school gardens and the possibilities of plant growing in raised beds

    March/June/2020

The school in Slovakia were closed due to pandemic situation (COVID 19) so we provided only online lessons through platforms for videoconferences such as Webex or Google Meet.

Pro - educational activities and development of digital skills became only project activities which we were able to do.

    January/February/2020

Our project students continued with the short presentations about the chosen vegetable and crops which can be grown in our school gardens.

They also made a chart with the important dates including sowing time, planting time and harvesting time for Slovakia conditions.

    Vegetable_growing_season_Gardens.xlsx

Students also started to gather some information about the climate conditions such as air temperature, soil temperature, precipitation in Slovakia.

They tried to find out why are climate conditions important for the agriculture and growing plants in our school garden as well.

These presentations are going to be used during the 4th short - term exhchange of the groups of the pupils in Germany.

    October/November/December 2019

We started to gather necessary information for the main project output - Digital textbook about vegetable and growing.

Here are the partial outputs which will be used for the textbook.

    August / September 2019

Our school garden get over big change during summer holiday.

Although the big trees were cut in the school garden (because of children safety and school building statics) we prepared replacement planting for this area and started to prepare also place for outdoor classroom.

Necessary cleaning after two free months when the garden was without "owner" and weed grew everywhere.

After rainy and quite colder May the temperature got increased in June.

We planted yound seedlings of tomatoes because after harvesting lettuce and spinach, the third raised box remained empty.

We also harvested and used in the school kitchen radishes and we sew lettuce again on the place where radisher grew.

Our mobile pots get colourful appereance.

We plan to use old tires and plant inside them some ornamental plants or flowers.

    MAY 2019

We took part in Erasmus+ conference in our capital city and our National Agency gave us an opportunity to present the projects which we are running at school or solved in the past within the program Erasmus+

    Erasmus+ conference in Bratislava

May brings to our raised beds a lot of rain. There were two rainy weeks so everything grew very fast.

At the end of this month we harvested letucce and spinach and used it in our school canteen.

Then we prepared the soil for another sowing.

May was also very special for us. We hosted our partners from Spain, Germany and Italy.

    APRIL 2019

At the end of April we can finally see the first cotyledons of our seeds which we sowed a few weeks ago.

Soil pH is one of the most important factors that influence nutrient absorption.

soil pH from 6.0 to 7.5 is acceptable for most plants. Lower pH reduces soil microbial activity.

Soil pH is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions in the soil solution.

Three samples of soil we used for pH measurement. One sample was the substrate we used for our raised beds. We found out that pH of the substrate is neutral.

The raised beds and the weather are already for sowing seeds of short - term growing vegetable.

    MARCH 2019

The end of March is the time for last preparation of our beds and places for planting and sowing.

Apart from four raised beds where we are going to plant our national short - growing crops we are also preparing other places to make our garden more beautiful and atractive.

Spring is coming. The time for each gardener for their outdoor activities. Our hoes, spades, rakes and water cans are prepared too. We bought seeds of short- growing crops which we are going to plant this year in our school garden, in our raised beds.

Our raised beds are ready as well.

Students started to study some necessary information about these crops and prepared very short presentations about them.

    We are going to plant:

    Spinach

    Onion
