  • According to the United Nations, World Poetry Day is 21st March. On that day, during that week or whenever we feel like it we will be disseminating our project and take poetry to the streets, to anyone we meet...

    Here's what we've done.

WORLD POETRY DAY - 21st March

At Emídio Garcia, Bragança, poetry invaded the classroom, the gym ... and escaped to the streets!

Teachers were offered poems related to their subjects and all have dedicated part of the lesson to reading and discussing them with the students. It allowed for a different lesson and more closeness between teachers and students. Many of these poems were later seen going round in the teachers' room. Poetry creating smiles!

At IC largo San Pio V Rome we announced to the whole school community that we were going to celebrate WPD!

the first line is "M'illumino d'immenso" a poem by Giuseppe Ungaretti and near the gate you can read the first line of " The Daffodils" by William Wordsworth.

WORLD POETRY DAY - 21st March

At Emídio Garcia, Bragança, the Wear a Poem activity was on the move. There were stickers with bits of poems for everyone!

Teachers also got personalized poems. We did some research and found there are poems related to any subject you teach and we printed different poems for the teachers of different subjects. More photos soon!

10th graders' gift to the Kindergarten kids!

We couldn't forget the little ones! Some students adapted the story "The wolf who wanted to change his colours" into a poem, two other students recorded it, a  photoshop guru created the pictures for the different colours and someone gave them a hand with the video.

Hope the kids will like it! It's in Portuguese, othersise they wouldn't understand it.

Escola Básica e Secundária Gonçalves Zarco also joined the World Poetry Day celebrations. :)
