The visit to the Embassy of Spain

A group of Seventh and Eighth Grade students of the Oton Iveković Primary School, who are participating in the Erasmus+ project Swot Scouts, visited the Embassy of Spain on the 20th February 2019. The students were accompanied by Ms Mijatović Jurić, German Teacher, and Mr Alajbeg, History Teacher.

They were greeted by the Ambassador, His Excellency Alonso Dezcallar de Mazarredo.

They talked about the recent mobility of Croatian students to Almeria, Spain and about the similarities and differences between Croatia and Spain. The students discovered that the two countries had more in common than they had initially assumed. The Ambassador kindly answered all the questions put to him, and the students listened to his answers with great interest.

The students performed a song entitled “The Spanish Song”, accompanied by guitar music, and the Ambassador expressed his enjoyment in their performance. The delegation presented the Ambassador with a gift, ceramic products of the School Cooperative Oton.

The students were exceptionally glad that they had been given the opportunity to take part in this event, to meet the Ambassador and to learn a little bit about diplomacy.

    A very special day

Today, following our mobility to Spain, we visited the Spanish Embassy. We came to Britain Square and then walked for twenty-five minutes. It was hard, but it was worth it. The Spanish Ambassador was very nice. While we were waiting for him, we talked to the Embassy employees. When the Ambassador arrived, he offered us some biscuits and juice. We asked him a lot of questions and sang a Spanish song that we had prepared. I liked that we were all vey relaxed and not formal. The Ambassador was happy to answer all of our questions in great detail. We learned a lot about Spain and about the similarities and differences between Spain and Croatia. I had not expected that I would enjoy the visit very much, but it turned out to be very interesting. We were glad that we visited the Spanish Embassy, because we were welcomed by a merry atmosphere and friendly people.
