ACTIVITY 2- web reputation
“selfie-er”
This activity aims to make students reflect on their behavior on social platforms and on the long-term consequences of what they usually post.
STEP 0- organization
The students have to group themselves in pairs, each of them should go on line and visit the social profile of his/her partner, select 3-4 pictures and try to create a new profile of the friend.
STEP 1- reflection
Will the new profile be positive? What kind of boy/girl will the photos show? And if you imagine yourself or your friends in 10 years time, do you think that a future employer would select you for an important job?
STEP 3- production
After this reflection phase, the outcomes can be written down in a brief report (individual work), or arranged as a page of a comic book (individual work), or organised as a mind map on the board (class work).
STEP 4- discussion
The students work will be discussed underlining which photos should be avoided, which ones could be accepted and if it is always necessary to post selfies.
STEP 5- variation
If you consider your parents or your teachers, are they web exposed too? What do they usually post on social platforms? What kind of photos? Analyze their web profile and compare their behavior to yours and your friends.
Use the Padlet to share your work.
