C.E.I.P Manuel Vidal Portela in Pontevedra, Spain.

    C.E.I.P Manuel Vidal Portela is part of UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network  (ASPnet) in Spain.

    Teacher M Carmen Moledo , a great walker, has made this wikilog where you can see our school and part of our town.

    Our school started to take part in etwinning Projects in 2007 but our coordinator has been cooperating with different schools/Institutions since 2005.

    4th graders, have made several posters  at their English lessons, to introduce our school, .

     

    We are an Infant and Primary school as this is the meaning for the initials in our school name C.E.I.P "Manuel Vidal Portela".

    C- stands for colegio-school

    E- for educación- education

    P- for Primaria- Primary

    I- Infantil- Infants

    There are 18 Primary classrooms (from 6 to 12 years old) and 6 Infant classrooms (from 3-5 years old).

    18 tutors (one for each class) , 1 Music teacher, 1 Religion teacher, 2 English teachers and a language assistant for C.L.I.L lessons (Arts and Crafts in English),1 French teacher ( who teaches 6th graders 1 hour a week) 2 Phisycal education teachers, 1 Special needs teacher and a speech therapist.

    There are two more teachers for kinders who assist teachers with their lessons or activities with part of the groups.

    We also have a person who assist special needs pupils with mobility or communication problems and  a secretary in charge of administrative issues.

    First Term

    School starts on the 12th of Setember and it ends on the 21st of December.

    School/National  holidays :12th of October 

                                               1st of November

                                                6th and 8th of December.

    School celebrations:   31 of October Samain/Halloween/ "Día de los Muertos"

    Christmas Holidays from the 22nd of December till the 7th of January.

    Second  term

    It starts on the 8th of January and it ends on the 23rd of April when Easter holidays start.

    School celebrations: On the 30th of January we celebrate School Peace Day

    Carnival Holidays fron 12th to 14th of February.

    Easter Holidays from 24th of March to 2nd of April

    Third term

    From the 3rd of April to the 21st of June when Summer Holidays start.

    School Holidays: 1st of May- Work Day

                              17th of May _Galician Letters Day.
