Today, Friday February 16th our whole group of eTwinners (from 11 up to 15 years old), Sébastien and I have all taken the bus to a French village called "Le Fousseret" to spend the afternoon at the care home "Saint Joseph" to meet its very kind and sweet residents! It was sunny, warm and the atmosphere was simply .... perfect :) !
We spent a wonderful time with them, talking about what it was like when they were younger in terms of inclusion, tolereance, kindness and acceptance.
It's been a fantastic occasion to share experiences, anecdotes and cakes that our students had specially baked for the occasion! It was very moving at times and tears were even shed!
We've all left with great memories in mind and having learnt a lot from our new friends. We left richer than we arrived thanks to the stories we were told!
To take you through our day, first have a look at this slideshow ... Then read the posts written by the students about some of what they learnt on that very special day on the following padlet!
Here is the video showing chosen moments of our visit to the French care home!
We hope you'll like it:
It really was a very special afternoon, and our students found the bridge allowing them to link their generation and the care home's residents' generations.....
isn't it what inclusion is all about ..... making bridges and filling gaps?????!!!!
We all enjoyed fantatic moments, sharing life anecdotes and
trying to figure out how the principle of inclusion has evolved throughout the years.
We all came back transformed!!!
Our students made a wish when it was time to leave our new friends ...
" if our project is awarded a quality label,
we'll come back to the care home to celebrate it with its residents!!!"
