  • SPORTS IN ITALY

    The national sporting color of Italy is blue, from the heraldic coat of arms of the House of Savoy, ruling dynasty from 1861 to 1946.
    Among the most followed sports with:
     Football, which is in first place in Italy as a result of fans and fans. The Italian soccer team is among the most titled in the world, second only to the Brazilian one.


    In addition to football, much followed is cycling, which has its most famous event in the Giro d'Italia, a stage race that runs through the peninsula and is held every year between the end of May and the first days of June. Not only Italian athletes participate in this competition, but also cyclists from all over the world.

     
     Another passion of Italians is motoring. In fact, the Formula 1 world championship is very popular. Ferrari races in this championship, called the "reds" of Maranello (a small town in the province of Modena, where these famous race cars are built).

     


    People like cycling and motor racing have recently become skiing,

    basketball, volleyball or tennis, which are especially popular among young people. Less followed by these are other sports, such as swimming ball, fencing, athletics, horse riding, rowing and clay pigeon shooting, even if Italian athletes, the Azzurri, achieve remarkable results in the international field in these disciplines, especially during the Olympics.
