    Pompei

It is located near Naples and in Roman times it was a very important city.

It was full of restaurants, bars, bakeries, carpenters, laundries, greengrocers and private houses.

In 79 a.C. it was completely destroyed by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius. It was buried under a blanket of ash (five to seven meters). Even the inhabitants remained killed and were found petrified. Since the end of the eighteenth century the remains of the ancient Roman city have been brought to light:

paintings, mosaics, furnishings and buildings that have made it possible to reconstruct the lifestyle in Roman times.
