    Participants

    People involved in the survey:

    - second-generation immigrants and Italians (most of them are attending a formal course to get the lower secondary school

certificate, the others are attending a course which covers the final two years of compulsory education)

    - working adults or adults looking for a job (most of them are Italians attending non-formal English language courses)

    Objectives

Assessing our students' knowledge and opinions on Europe's migration crisis, but also considering the opportunity to increased their

knowledge, later on, in collaboration with the NGOs which take care of asylum seekers and refugees in Brescia.

    Description

The questionnaire used for the survey was created using Google Docs, then it was printed and given out to the students, it was also

published on Brescia CPIA 1 website, where it is still available at

    http://www.cpia1brescia.gov.it/wordpress/compilazione-online-sondaggio-studenti-erasmus/

The survey is divided into three parts: the first and the second part deal with the students' knowledge and opinions on Europe's

migration crisis; the third part, introduced by the words “questions you would like to be answered”, is aimed at finding out

what kind of information we should provide for our students in order to increase their knowledge about the related issue.

    Evaluation

For the moment we have analysed 135 questionnaires.

80% of the people involved are interested in the subject, and what they know about it is correct, except for the fact that about 50% of

those who answered the question on the number of asylum seekers in the province of Brescia overestimated it.

58% think that the risk of terrorist attacks might increase due to the arrival of migrants.

63% think there should be more attention to Italians' problems.

In spite of this, 65% think welcoming migrants is a good thing and 62% think it is possible to integrate them into our society.

As for the third part of the survey, about 60% of the people involved are mainly interested in obtaining information answering the

    following questions:

How much money is spent for each asylum seeker?

What do asylum seekers do while they are at the reception centres?

What happens to those whose application for international protection is rejected?

That does not mean that they are not interested in other aspects; on the contrary, also the other questions listed in the third section were chosen.

Therefore, we are going to collaborate with the the NGOs taking care of asylum seekers and refugees in Brescia, in order to plan activities focused on providing our students with more information on the related issue.
