A 4.4 Spain

  • A 4.4.1 Visit to CONGDEX (Coordinator of Extremadura NGOs)

We were given the names, phone numbers and addresses of NGOs which are currently working on the insertion of immigrants and refugees in Badajoz ( “Todos iguales, Todos Legales” (All Equal, All Legal), “Cáritas”, “Gregorio Morán: Peace and Solidarity “ Foundation, “NZC: Women in conflict zones”).
We were given ideas about possible awareness-raising activities  to be done with students based on different techniques like theatre-forum, street action (Suitcases)…
They provided us with new ideas about the preparation of information material for immigrants (the importance of using videos rather than texts, to ensure the renewal and maintenance of the website, and son on).

A 4.4.2 Visit to "Bartolome J. Gallardo" Public Library

    Participants:

Students of Innovation Project “Prometeo” Level II.

    Objectives:

-To gather information about the services offered by the Public Library and how to access it in order to include it later on the website for immigrants which will be created in the project Erasmus +.

-To bring our students to a cultural centre like the library and to encourage them to use it.

-To train students in the use of digital tools like on-line application forms and on-line catalogues (search of books) and in the elaboration of infographics.

Firstly, the staff of the Public Library gave an informative talk to students to inform them about all the services offered there and how they can access them. Besides they were taught how to search in the on-line catalogue and the staff showed them the facilities.

Next, some of the students could collect their membership card which had been applied for previously through the on-line application form. Others applied for the card through the paper form at the moment. Afterwards, they carried out some activities in which they had to search for works of Universal Literature and to find information in these works to answer some questions. This work was done in a collaborative way, because some students lack of sufficient autonomy for the use of digital tools.

They day ended with the sharing of the information collected and the valuation of the visit.

The second part of this activity will consist in the elaboration of an infographic by students in which the information collected is presented.

Later we visited the museum, observing especially the painting of Timoteo Pérez, we learned about the history and backgrounds of the museum.

We finally visited the Cheka (republic prison), which is in the basement and shows how art can also be at the service of torture.
