Student Memories

  • Monday (Emma)

I was looking forward to Monday; our guests would come! When we were at my home, I took her round my house and after that we played some games. It was pretty fun. Later we also went to my piano lesson. She said I can play pretty good :)

Tuesday (Madelief)                                                                                               Tuesday was the first day of our program. To let each other know a bit more about the countries we all come from, all pupils gave a presentation about their country. After the presentations the foreign guests got a lesson Dutch. The Dutch pupils had to help and it was really fun to do. We went to the centre of Maastricht on our bicycle and walked the discovery tour. At some spots the Dutch people gave information about Maastricht.  After the city tour we took our guests home. Because we had to work together a lot this first day, my guest and I got a really good connection. I really liked this day and I had a lot of fun. J

    Wednesday (Nino)
On Wednesday we had a dance workshop. After this workshop we had mathematics class. That was boring, sorry but it is true J.In the afternoon we did a GPS-tour, During the GPS-tour we were in teams and we had to find the right path on a LCD screen. And we made Dutch pies, in the Netherlands we call the pies “vlaaien”.
That was really fun and the “vlaaien” tasted delicious.

    Thursday (Emma)

Today we drove mountain bike, which was pretty fun, but also a bit exhausting. We also bowled that day and I really liked it. At my home we watched 'The Hunger Games'. Before Marina came to the Netherlands we already had some contact via WhatsApp. We discovered that we were reading the same book at the same time: 'Mockingjay' ! She is a big fan of the Hunger Games, but she had never seen the movies before, until she came to the Netherlands.

    Friday (Nino)

On Friday morning we went to the American War Cemetery in Margraten, that was very interesting. A teacher told us many interesting things about the Cemetery and WWII. After the speech we received a rose and were allowed to select a grave which we all gave a rose. In the afternoon we went to the three corners of Limburg (here comes three countries together), we call the place “drielandenpunt”. We have made some pictures and also walked in the 3 countries! Then we drove to Aachen, here we have done a quiz and that was really nice. Friday evening was a lot of fun, we had a fare well diner and a disco. The disco was awesome. It was a very nice week!

I had a really nice and fun week! We have done a lot of things, for example: we went on a bike ride, we baked pies, we did a few city searches and a lot of other things as well. In the beginning a lot of people didn’t know what to say but after a while everyone was just talking to eachother. Everyone was very nice. Fabiola (an Italian girl) stayed at my house, she is very kind and I really liked her. We also have done a few things after the day-programme; we went glow golfing, we went to an Italian restaurant, I took her to my dance lesson and a few other things. The day I liked most was probably Friday. On Friday we went to the American cemetery, we went to Aachen (a city in Gemany) and we had the farewell dinner. The farewell dinner was really nice and cozy. First we ate, then we had a bucket drumming lesson and after that we danced on Spanish, Italian, French and Dutch songs (the people from England were allready gone because they stayed in a hotel in Amsterdam that night). I had a very nice and fun week and I hope everyone else liked it as well!

I am really happy that I can be a part of this project, because I have met many great people. From abroad but also in the Netherlands, I am also very happy because I have the chance to go abroad.

We did a lot of stuff when the students out of the other countries came to the Netherlands, what I have never done before. For example the three countries, the coalmine, bucket drum, mountain biking, and so on. But also things I have done before and still were super fun, for example dancing, baking pies, quest in the city, and also going to Germany.

I really enjoyed it and it was really fun with the Spanish girl. At first we didn`t really knew where to talk about, but because of the busy schedule we had much more fun.

When I first saw the schedule, I thought that is was way too much to do in one day, but was doable.

I can`t wait to go to Spain, and see Aurora again (she is the Spanish girl). We are still in touch through whatsApp.

To make a long story short, i had a realy good time!!!
