WORKSHOPS ON DIGITAL LITERACY

 

1. Choose one workshop for the whole week.

2. Each workshop will then include 2 Austrians, 2 Welsh and 2-3 Finnish students.

3. There will be five 90-minute sessions for the workshop during the week

4. The teams will present their work at the end of the week.

5. The materials and devices will be provided by Nurmeksen lukio. If possible you may use your own phone as well.

6. Detailed instructions and reading material will be available in a Google File for the workshop team.

 

1. THE THREE IDENTITIES OF THE MODERN PERSON

 

A mural on the the three identities that modern people have: one created by themselves in social media, one created by algorhythms and the true identity.

 

TASK: Paint a triptych.

 

2. CSI ONLINE

 

Investigate cases of manipulation by information. Look for alternative facts, hate speech, fake news and profiles, and other manifestations of power and influence in the digital world.

 

TASK: Create a presentation

 

3. TO GOOGLE OR NOT TO GOOGLE

 

How do you know what is a credible source? What is reliable information? What can you use as sources in your essays and research projects? How?

 

TASK: Create a video tutorial and a poster for younger students on how to analyze sources.

 

   

4. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

 

How do you to stay safe online? What can you do online? How not to commit crime or to be a victim? 

 

TASK: Conduct a survey among the students on their information security awareness. Present the findings and create a guide book or a poster on information security.

 

5.  MY WAY - ONLINE SUCCESS STORIES

 

For almost twenty years now the internet has been providing opportunities for creating communities and building careers which had not even been dreamt of earlier.  Look into how the internet has enabled these success stories and predict what possibilities might be available in the future.

 

TASK: Give a presentation on 10 online success stories in both personal and business life.
