Project meeting in Santiago

  • What a great week of transnational meeting with our European partners: Poles, Germans, French who have visited us in Santiago to finish the meetings that take place in the Erasmus + project during the courses 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. It has been an unforgettable week thanks to the work on migrations that our Erasmus + students have carried out with great enthusiasm and also to keep working and growing in knowledge.

During the week of February 16th to 23rd we have been working on the pilgrimages to Santiago that million of pilgrims have made throughout history.

On Sunday 18th we travelled the road "Camino" from Corcubión to the lighthouse of Fisterra (Finis Terrae) accompanied by two teachers from our school: Angela, a wonderful guide, and Javier, a great bagpiper who entertained us with his bagpipe songs. In Finisterre we got to know first-hand the lives of two migrant women who have moved us.

On Monday, our students played the role of actors interpreting different characters of the history linked to Santiago and thus show our city in a more realistic and fun way.

On Wednesday we focused more on our fishing industry and visited the canning Friscos in the village of Catoira and the tuna canning process. We didn´t miss the West Towers of great importance in the defense against Viking invasions. We also took a boat trip along the Ria de Arosa to learn how the mussels are raised in ropes tied up on wooden platforms on the sea. In the afternoon we visited the old fishing village of Combarro and listened stories of emigrants from the 19th and 20th centuries linked to the families of students present there .

It was wonderful to see our students work during the day on Tuesday and Thursday with their European colleagues using a common language, English, to design their projects to present the work at the end of the morning on Thursday.

We want to thank all the teachers of the different departments for their collaboration, the school choir for putting a majestic finishing touch, the families for their generosity and welcome, the administration and services staff for their help and the constant support of the management team.

In short, we are very grateful. But this is not over yet, we continue with the project so you will have more news about the Erasmus group.
