Global Day of Action for the Climate

  • "We are using resources as if we had two planets, not one. There can be no 'plan B' because there is no 'planet B.' "  Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary General of the United Nations

Scenes of flooding, earthquakes and other natural disasters show us just how much weather and climate can affect our lives. All depends on climate: food sources, transport infrastructure, clothes we wear, air we breathe. It has a big impact on our livelihoods, our health, and our future.

Our climate is changing because of us, our thoughtless overuse of natural resources, and these changes are already having a huge effect on our lives. It’s important that we do everything we can to stop the climate change and prepare for the future.

The Global Day of Action is on the 6th of November 2021. It is a series of grassroots-organised events showing that we all care about our planet. The aim of the Global Day of Action is to unite all climate activists and groups around a common goal: to limit global temperatures to 1.5°C and find solutions to the climate crisis. Every fraction of a degree matters. Do you want to know why? Watch the WWF video.

The world is uniting to deal with the crisis. Starting from today the UK will host the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow. The conference will last from the 31st of October  to the 12th of November 2021. The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

We ought to remember that 'human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans.'

If the governments unite to tackle climate change, we can also show our support. Our students will take part in Global Day of Action initiative. They will prepare protest banners to show that they care about the climate.
