C1 -first meeting in Kahramanmaras

Our first meeting in Kahramanmaras is over. It was highly effective. Before the meeting, each partner country did some research and analysis for presentations during C1: waste management practices in the local community, national policies, school management of waste, school environmental projects.

The agenda included topic-related activities and workshops, cultural events, visits, meetings with local authorities, round-tables.

The hosts prepared initial quizzes about the country. Turkey organized cultural events to mark the intercultural aspect of the LTTA. Partners from Turkey presented the detailed agenda and objectives of the meeting. They also took the guests on the school tour. All teams delivered presentations about their countries, national policies, environmental concerns in all partner countries during meetings and round tables. Thanks to that all the partners could draw conclusions and identify similarities and differences between the countries.

Partners presented and discussed waste management policies in the communities of all countries and then in the partner schools. The presentations were followed by a session of discussions and conclusions. The host presented a successful environmental project at local level. Turkish team invited guest speakers involved in it. All other partners shared their experience in successful environmental project at a local level. Activities with students to raise awareness about the problem of waste management were discussed by all the partners.

During the last project meeting all partners created an action plan for the upcoming period and set the deadlines for the implementation of the actions.

The project activities ran parallel with the school programme. The classes were held normally and were only interfered a little during the school tour.

The project activities were held during working hours. After the school-based programme, all the partners could visit places of interest for the project and also places of historical or cultural importance to the host country, so as to gain a deeper insight into the Turkish culture.

After the meeting each country will observe the school policy concerning waste management and identify good practices. Each partner country will also act according to the activity plan discussed and accepted during the meting.
