  • Osnovna skola ''23. oktobar'' Sremski Karlovci

Elementary School in Sremski Karlovci was originally established in 1713, and has, since then, changed names and steering, but has since then remained the only elementary school in Sremski Karlovci. The school publishes its own magazine, Stražilovac (Stražilovo - part of protected natural area of a nearby mountain, Fruška gora), which includes texts, paintings, etc. produced by pupils and teachers. There are two class shifts, morning and afternoon. There are 41 teachers + 16 other employees = 57 employees in total. The number of students is 602 in 24 classes (3 per year).

We  participate in this project because we believe that it would help our pupils to develop their competences - communication, cooperation, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, innovation, and their digital competencies. The benefit for teachers will be the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge, skills, and they could express their
creativity and ideas. We believe that everybody would develop/improve their ecological awareness, and that the project would strengthen the bonds and cooperation of all stakeholders involved in education in Sremski Karlovci.

We would like this project to help us connect with schools on international (but also on national, through sharing good practices) level, to enable us to exchange experience and ideas, and to give us the opportunity to express on different languages, thus improving our linguistic competencies. We are sure that the project will help us develop ideas for improvement of environmental education together.

We have special experience in environmental practices at school since the school is labeled as an eco school (www.ecoschools.global/) which engages youth to protect our planet. We have done several workshops and smaller project on that topic in our school and are happy to share it with others. There is also an eco classroom in the backyard of our school. We have also implemented our first eTwinning project, World Sparrow Day.
