INS Les Aimerigues – Terrassa Spain

  •

INS Les Aimerigues is an eight-year-old center dependent on the Government of Catalonia. It is a public center, innovative and inclusive. The classes offered are ESO (Mandatory Seconday School) and Batxillerat (Baccalaureate: Humanistic, Social and Scientific-Technological) while offering at the same time a personal, academic and professional guidance to all our students. The center's curriculum is structured in fields: Scienglish (Science in English using a CLIL methodology), Tecnomat (Technology and Mathematics), Socitic (Social Sciences and ICT), Artistic (Physical Education, Music, Visual and Plastic Education), Linguistic (Catalan and Spanish) and Guidance / Diversity. The staff consists of 55 teachers, 19 tutoring groups (502 students) and two TIS (social integration technique) that works with the support of the EAP or Pedagogical Advisory Team , two caretakers and one administrative assistant. The institution, formed by an enthusiastic group of highly qualified people, who combines the long experience of some of its members with the desire and the enthusiasm of the youth of others, is in the process of expansion. Our school has already a solid experience in the organization and implementation of student exchanges and Erasmus+ projects. We have a more specific experience as well related to the topic “sustainability” due to our participation in the program “Global Scholar”, to the same Erasmus project we are taking currenly part as well as the knowledge and know-how of our teachers. The structure and curricula of our school (the division into fields or the work in collaborative projects, for example) enhance the transversality required in an endeavor like this. For the same reason, our enthusiastic team of teachers (formed by two scientits, an architect, an engineer, two historians, a new technologies expert and a mathematician) is aimed to move in this same direction. Last but not least, we have built during these years a wide network of collaborators and institutions that includes, among others, the Terrassa Major House, the Cosmocaixa Museum of Science of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona or the Barcelona Institute for Global Health.

Vicent Albiñana Navarro, project coordinator in the school, is a biologist. He has experience and training as a professor of Science in English and as Scienglish's field manager. The project will be implemented as a center project and different commissions will be formed (follow up, economic, artistic). As expertise, we will depart from our Global Cities program experience, whose programme is intended as a mission: "to connect global cities through a network for sharing information that provides meaningful forums for exchanging best practices on current problems affecting cities, and to develop a global awareness of the next generation through transnational education programmes in an interactive way". (Information derived from its official website: https://www.globalcities.org/).
