The Forestry School in Ruciane-Nida was established in 1973. From 01/09/2017, we formally operate as an industry center for vocational and continuing education under the name of the Forestry School Complex. Teaching directions are forest technician, landscape architecture technician, IT technician, tourist service technician, forest machinery operator, gardener. We are a supra-regional school. We have specialist workshops for professional subjects: forest protection, forest use, forest management, forest breeding, forestry and forest biology as well as well-equipped general education laboratories. We have three computer labs, a multimedia studio, and a gym. Most studios are equipped with modern audiovisual equipment. The didactic basis favors the use of modern teaching techniques and an efficient teaching and learning process. Interested students take part in literary, mathematical, sports competitions, ecological competitions related to forest and hunting knowledge - which significantly contributes to the development of their interests and passions. Currently, our team consists of technical school (9 branches - 223 students) and we have a dormitory (used by over 80% of students). Our teachers are very motivated and eager to work in an international team. They are able to use different methods of work, they also use modern technologies. We have gained rich experience in the realization of various projects with ecological purposes. Through their active actions, our students cooperate with similar schools in Europe about various topics and projects. Our students participate in annual Olympic and national competitions in forestry skills and environmental protection and in different ecofestivals. We participated in Erasmus+, and in many projects of municipal and national level, too. The participation in this kind of project will provide our pupils with additional motivation to increase their understanding of the world. We would like to teach our students to integrate themselves more easily in the European multicultural space and allow them to be European citizens. For teachers and students this project constitutes a great personal and professional challenge. The coordinator of the project will be Dorota Sokołowska, teacher of the school who is also the member of board of a teacher association, an NGO that has been preparing and implementing different kind of projects especially with youths over a long period of time. In this project there will be cooperation between the school and the Polish Teachers Association which helps as an expert in the topic of the project. She has been involved in many projects on English and environmental subjects (including Erasmus+). Another key person in the school, who might take the role of coordinator if necessary is Marianna Wolska, very experienced in preparing and implementing different educational projects.
