DAY 1 : HISTORY
Characters, dates and important facts
Goal : Create a big timeline about our common history and each member's own history.
You will need : blue, red, yellow, green, pink, orange and purple A3 papers +A4 white papers + pins or cellotape (depending on your walls)+ a printer+ an A4 laminator+ the biggest wall in your school (inside) on which you will draw a big black timeline from 1945 to now.
I.INTRODUCTION
Each country introduces itself and its school. Online Starleaf or Zoom meeting.
II.ACTIVITY
1.Let's build a EU timeline (key dates and facts about the construction of the EU)
Play that game ! When it's done, take the blue papers, print the facts and dates on A4 white papers, laminate them and stick the EU timeline on top (as high as you can because the histories of the countries will be stuck under the EU timeline) of your biggest wall !!!
2.Teams'work
In each country :
Group 1 : will work on Portugal. A teacher will be in charge of this group. The colour used for the timeline will be red.
Group 2 : will work on Germany. A teacher will be in charge of this group. The colour used for the timeline will be yellow.
Group 3 : will work on France. A teacher will be in charge of this group. The colour used for the timeline will be purple.
Group 4 : will work on Poland. A teacher will be in charge of this group. The colour used for the timeline will be pink.
Group 5 : will work on Latvia. An teacher will be in charge of this group. The colour used for the timeline will be orange.
Group 6 : will work on Italy. A teacher will be in charge of this group. The colour used for the timeline will be green.
During this week, each group will work on the history of the given country. The goal is to create the timeline from 1945 to now together. At the end of the week, it will be stuck on the wall, under the EU timeline BEFORE THE NEXT MEETING.
The teacher who is in charge of a group will check the work in progress and help the students to achieve their work : students must have picked key dates, characters and events from 1945 to nowadays (don't pick too many, you have little time !).
Once the timeline is approved by the teacher in charge, the students can print, laminate and stick their work on the wall, using the right colour for the papers (according to the country).
Take a picture of the activity and you'll show it in the end of the day during the online meeting !!!
