Kossuth Lajos Gimnázium, Szakképző Iskola, Általános Iskola és Kollégium is the common name of a group of schools in the north-eastern part of Hungary, on the Great Hungarian Plain, 160 kilometres from our capital city, Budapest. Both the primary and secondary school can be found in Tiszafüred. These two schools have been working together in international relationships for a few years. In the primary school there are 250 pupils and 30 teachers and in the secondary school there are 412 pupils and 46 teachers. Our pupils are between 6 and 18 years old. There is a junior section (ages 6- 10) and a senior section (ages 11-15) in the primary school and the secondary grammar school is for pupils between 11 and 18. After finishing the junior section of the primary school the most talented students can continue their studies in the secondary school. In the primary section the number of special needed pupils is growing. From the surrounding villages more and more pupils coming with disadvantageous socio-economical background. Our school doesn’t have any refugees, we have children from ethnic minorities. We have realized that these pupils, who are basically demotivated, can find motivation and feel confident when doing sports and creative arts, which helps to reduce early school leaving. The secondary school is specialized in languages, mainly English, German and Russian and it also provides great opportunities for sport lovers. It has a creative afternoon course in visual arts. Our school has extensive experience in project implementation. We have been taking part in international partnerships (Comenius and Erasmus+) since 2007, so we have gained knowledge and develop skills organizing these meetings. Our teachers are eager to work with other institutions and are open for new approaches and innovative techniques in teaching. During the former years some of them also participated in individual mobilities to attend seminars and take part in job shadowing possibilities. We re going to create a project team and during the project implementation each team member will have some responsibility: project manager, responsible for communication, dissemination and publicity responsible, accountable monitoring and evaluation, financial manager, etc. In the team there will be 10 teachers. Our pupils are also interested in taking part in international projects. They also feel the need to study with pupils from different parts of Europe and to make friends with them. As a lot of them come from socially disadvantaged families, it would be a life-time experience to take part in an international relationship like this. Also the project topic gives a great interest for the teachers. One of our main concern is to prepare our students for their future, to match their skills with labour possibilities, having all relevant skills for their jobs. Therefore, this project will be a valuable input to provide our students with more skills and tools.
