The third meeting of the project took place in Hungary where both the Portuguese and the Italian partners were present.
The topic of the meeting was Visual marketing and Business role games so we concentrated on these business related issues, although we investigated some other business areas besides these ones, too.
During discovering the capital city of Hungary we carried out some business tasks with the participating students. We also planned some ice breakers so as to make friends more easily. At school we continued the ice breakers with some business related tasks: matching jobs and their descriptions, Find someone who, etc. We also acted out everyday situations that can happen between an employer and an employee.
The participants introduced their schools, towns and surroundings to the others via power point presentations.
We visited our lake and discovered the flora and fauna of it. In connection with this trip we carried out another business related task: students worked together in pairs and created the logo of the company where we hired the motorboats. This time the students had to use their hands, some pencils, crayons and their imagination.
We also paid a visit to an attraction nearby: the Econcentre, which is a place introducing lake Tisza. In connection with this visit we also had a task: students were divided into two groups. One of them had to create the logo of this institution using different programmes on the computer, the members of the other group working in pairs created flyers based on the information and photos they had collected during their visit. After that the logos and the flyers were combined and we had fabulous business products.
We also acted out situations in connection with job interviews. The first impression during an interview is really important so we investigated what not to do during these events. Pupils worked in pairs and acted out the different situations in pairs while the others were watching them. They found out what the specific problems were. (the candidate was chewing a gum, or knocked too loudly, or had a long handshake, etc…)
During one of the mornings we, coordinators had a discussion about the upcoming events and the activities that will have to be done by the end of this school year. We also discussed the date, the venue and the possible activities of the Madeiran visit.
Besides formal occasions we provided the participants with some informal possibilities to make friends: they played sport games together, they discovered places in small groups, they had a dance and karaoke party.
Both the local participants and the groups of pupils and teachers travelling to Hungary took part in the project happenings very actively. Their communication and language skills have developed as they constantly used the common working language: English. During the various business tasks their entrepreneurship skills and creativity also developed. They could have a look at the world of job interviews, too.
By using computers they got to know about different ICT graphical programmes so their computer literacy skills also increased. Hopefully pupils made long lasting friends with each other and can’t wait the next occasion to meet again. The participants also learnt about the Hungarian educational system, the Ecosystem of our lake, geographical and historical facts of Hungary and some local businesses.
As the students worked together in pairs or in small groups they could see the advantages of cooperation.
