School starts cooperating with the West Bohemia museum – we organised the meeting with the project team and management of the museum and we planned some activities. The museum offered to help to prepare the workshop for the participants of the activity in the CR. Teachers and students help with translating materials into English for the workshop. At the meeting we also disseminated the project – introduced the project and project goals. It was agreed that we could visit the vernissages of museum exhibitions, join the workshops and exhibitions with students:

6 teachers and 20 students took part in 3 vernissages (previews) of the 3 exhibitions at West Bohemia museum:

Singing to heart, heart to homeland

The theme of the exhibition, which takes place from 22 February to 30 August 2020 in the West Bohemian Museum building, is the motto: “FROM WORK TO ENTERTAINMENT or Leisure time in Czech 19th Century Culture”. One important phenomenon that played an irreplaceable social role in the context of the increase in leisure time during the 19th century was local association activity.

Two classes of the school will gradually visit the exhibition.

Masters of traditional handicraft of the Pilsen Region

The exhibition at the Ethnographic Museum of the Pilsen Region is from February 14 to April 13,2020 and presents the current work of craftsmen who were awarded the title of Master of Traditional Handicraft by the Pilsen Region in 2017-2019.
The Pilsen Region started using the title in 2017. The whole project is based on the long-term concept of care for traditional folk culture in the Pilsen Region and especially the intangible cultural heritage. The Pilsen Region thus responded to the challenge of UNESCO Living Human Treasures and continued the national title of Bearer of the Tradition of Folk Crafts which started in 2001.
With the title Master of Traditional Handicraft, the Pilsen Region seeks to acknowledge especially craftsmen who have mastered the skills, procedures and technologies of traditional handicraft in fields that are at significant risk or are in danger of extinction, and share their knowledge and their products in public.

    World of medieval games

is another exhibition in the building of the West Bohemian Museum, which will be held from 31 January to 26 July 2020.
In the “dark” Middle Ages, people had many festive days and were able to enjoy them. Games, festivals, music and dance were all inherently part of life at all times. The interactive exhibition will introduce visitors to these aspects of life in the High and Late Middle Ages.

Two classes with teachers visit this exhibition and also join the workshop there.
