Slavonian culture and Christmas traditions - culinary and art worshops

  • On December 18th 2019, students of 1d, 3d, 3k and 4k hosted friends participating in the Erasmus+ project. They conducted a colorful workshop on the subject of Christmas Slavonian culture and tradition. We were introduced at local Christmas traditions by Ms Ivana Domanović, a curator at the City Museum of Pozega.

    Workshops for making homemade pasta, tarana, peaches, greeting cards, pompons, bells, cookies on the machine followed. The classroom exuded the atmosphere of Christmas and the customs that had long been celebrated in our homes.

    The photographs evoke the joy of the students, followed by a cheerful performance at the music played on accordion by one of Croatian students. The atmosphere was complemented by the delicious honey, the gingerbread, and the dry cookies.  

    In the end, participants tasted cookies made by the workshop participants and baked by our friends from the Crafts School. At the end of the get-together, participants dances around the traditional holiday table.

    All workshops were led by Croatian students, and one of them is special need student who led the worshop of making Advent wreath from wool material.

    Thee worshops were superwised by vocationa subjects teacher Višnja Menđel Troha, who got involved numerous other teachers of our school: Mirna Mikić, Ksenija Krizmanić Horvat, Marija Posavac, Marina Hurtiš Međugorac, Ana Zlomislić, Marija Petrić, Magdalena Vojak, and Katarina Bušić. The worshops were huge success and guests enjoyed it very much.
