Europe Day at IES Gabriel y Galán

  • 9th May - Europe Day at Gabriel y Galán Secondary School

Today, 9th May, we celebrate Europe Day on the ocassion of the anniversary of the "Schuman Declaration". On this day, we commemorate peace and unity in Europe.

It dates back to 9th May 1950 when Robert Schuman, the French Foreign Minister, set out in the above-mentioned declaration his idea of creating a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between European nations inconceivable. This proposal is seen as the beginning of what is now the European Union.

During this year, this declaration is even more relevant due to the war situation in which we are immersed.

From IES Gabriel y Galán we want our community to be aware of the importance of this day and therefore, during the break time, students and teachers could take pictures in our photocall commemorating this date.

Also, students from all the countries participating in the KA 229 ECHOSET project, in which our school is involved, have developed and interactive presentation with a summary of what has meant the different mobilities and activities carried out in this project as a commemorative document of this date.
