the poorest families in Croatia. Our school also joined the national program help to the poorest families all students and teachers bought the bracelets and the money collected was donated to

After the Croatian mobility students participating in the project organised 'Solidarity Raising Awareness Days' in our school. They held solidarity workshops in many classes during form teacher classes.

    Solidarity in Italy

Volunteering activities are a tradition in our school.  As for the Solidarity activity of our project, students expressed their intention to be helpful to many people with no money and no job on breadlines outside our town churches at dinner time; so both students and teachers did some volunteering jobs at one of the “Soup kitchens” in Lecce. Some money was collected at school to buy some food: pasta, tomatoes, tuna, cheese, ham, milk, tea, etc.. and money was collected at school to buy food: pasta, tomatoes, tuna, cheese, ham, milk, tea, etc..  and a turnover of 3 students and two teachers as volunteers made sandwiches and distributed them and hot drinks to homeless at dinner time.

Our students worked hard to make about one hundred sandwiches, to organize them in the respect of religious faith because there were Muslims too. They heated many litres of milk and made hot tea for the long breadline of migrants, homeless, and poor families with children; they carried out their tasks with a sense of duty. This activity is still carried out in the evening in the students’ free time.

Students and teachers organized the sale of poinsettias at school to support the Italian Association against Leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma

They also visited the School of Literacy and Education for Refugees in Lecce where refugees learn the Italian language and attend ceramics, painting and sewing courses too. The visit has been a touching experience too. The students listened to the stories of some young girls and boys who were forced to flee their homes in search of a better life. Their stories were hard but they didn’t manage to reveal their inner emotions. Lots of questions we asked them remained unanswered. We realized they had erected a wall to overcome the traumatic events they faced.
