Campi Soncini Dimora d'Abramo

  • The preschool Campi Soncini in Via Veneri, in the area Santa Croce in the municipality of Reggio Emilia has been built in 1963 by the local church community. Only since 2014 the preschool has run by the social cooperative Dimora d’Abramo.

     

    Nowadays the preschool can house max. 75 children from 3 to 5 years, divided in 3 groups. The most part of the children comes from families with migrant backgrounds who are living in the neighborhood. There are from 10 till 15 nationalities included in the preschool.

    The children can attend from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. from Monday till Friday. It is possible for the families to use the services part time. The staff is composed by 1 coordinator, 6 teachers, 1 cook and 1 assistant. When the preschool is frequented by children with special needs, the staff will be completed with additional specific professionals.   

    Campi Soncini has different and large interior spaces, a yard/garden and an own kitchen that prepares the lunch and snacks. 

    The purpose of the education in Campi Soncini is to build intercultural meanings in dialogue with the cultures of the children’s backgrounds enhancing different identities, respect, mutual support and pacific co-existence.
