Kita Kohlgartenstraße
FAIRbund e.V., Kohlgartenstr. 9, 04315 Leipzig, Germany, Tel. + 49 341 69935900
Our kindergarten opened in August 2015 and is located in the Eastern part of Leipzig. We
are very close to the center of the town with its population of about 560.000. Our institution
houses 180 kids and 35 people working there in management, education, social work,
technics and more. We are lucky to include members of our staff with/from different origin. This circumstance affects our daily working routine and our view of perspective positively.
The objective of our strategy is the further development of the open groups concept
through constant adjustments of the rooms structure and the daily processes. Due to the
location of our kindergarten in a multi - cultural area of Leipzig one main focus of our work is
intercultural education. This is supported by training courses for our educators, special
pedagogical material, a close contact to our counselling center and courses for parents that
take place in our house regularly.
Furthermore we are an institution which is so called “KiFaz” (Kinder- und Familienzentrum) and can be translated as family Centre. All members of the family have the opportunity to attend to diverse activities, proposals and consultations to help them with the upbringing process or with problems concerning their daily life.

responsibility on their shoulders“

We see our house as an integrated system that supports the resources of the children and allows them
to develop their self-determined acting in an pedagogical surrounding. Activity is another key element of
our work. One of our functional rooms is an activity room, we have a large garden at our house with
several play equipment’s and groups of children visiting the woods around the town regularly.
