Evaluation

  • At the beginning of the project, the students filled out a questionnarie to raise their awareness for the topic and think about their entrepreneurial skills:

At/After each meeting we did various evaluations. The questions and results can be found on the pages of the respective meeting (see "Trade fairs"). Some sample evaluations:

As the answers were individualized texts (not multiple choice), we didn't see much point in producing diagrams, but used the personal assessments as a starting point for a discussion in team meetings. So, experiencing, monitoring, evaluating and making changes or adjusting accordingly was a constant "work in progress".

In our Borgo meeting, we did more sophisticated surveys and digitalized the process:

Of course, we constantly analyzed our sales experience and evaluated our product range. We learned that we had to adjust the products to the needs of the customers. These needs vary, depending on the country. E.g. when taking baths is not customary or the people have no tubs or do not take baths because of water shortages, trying to sell 'bathcubes' is bound to fail...

Here is an example of a product evaluation which was discussed in greater detail in class when the students who came back from the project meeting reported to the rest of the group and the production groups were de-briefed:

As the priorities of both teachers and students shifted with Corona-related school closures, lock-downs and the challenges of distance learning at the end of the project, the final evaluation was done in the form of a freely written reflection. This had the additional benefit of the students practising their English...

Here are some examples of what students thought about the project and the personal progress they made by participating and getting involved:

Another form of evaluation was to have students write preparatory notes for what they thought should be mentioned in their "job reference":

    STUDENT PORTFOLIO

To mark their progress through the project, the students keep all their written work and assessments in a personal portfolio. A completed portfolio contains:

    - Letter of motivation or application to the project (giving reasons for joining the project)

    - Personal profile

    - Completed questionnaire on entrepreneurial skills

    - The Job ad which they helped develop

    - Personal CV and cover letter

    - Summary of tasks they have done and skills they might have acquired/developed

    - Job reference (written for them by teachers)

    - Personal project assessment

    - Mobility Pass (not in example, will be added)
