Project Meeting Wed 26th June 2019

    Barton Hill Academy, Torquay, UK

    1. WELCOME
The meeting started with a warm welcome from Headteacher Mr.Christopher Taylor. The group was also introduced to our VIP guests: Mr.Gordon Oliver, Will Nash (Parent Support Group), Sophie Distin (Parent and Chair of Friends of Barton Committee Group) and Mr.John Rolfe MBE, British Council. Mr.Taylor thanked the group for their hard work throughout the 2 year project and expressed his appreciation for the obvious impact the project has had upon the staff and the children at Barton Hill Academy. Mr.Taylor wished the group a wonderful stay and hoped they would learn lots both educationally and culturally.

    2. VIDEO MESSAGE
A video message from our MP Kevin Foster was played to the group as Mr.Foster was unable to attend due to involvement in Parliamentary Meetings. He welcomed the group to Torbay and thanked the group for their hard work and wished them a pleasant and informative stay.

    3. TWINSPACE
The Team Leaders spent some time looking at the Twinspace and any gaps were highlighted with a view to filling as soon as possible to ensure the Twinspace is up to date.
An Evaluation Survey for participating teachers was discussed in detail and prepared with a view to sending out at the end of this visit to ensure responses were submitted before finishing school for the summer holidays. Team leaders can then have time to consider their reflections and write their reviews with these responses for the Final Project Report.

    4. MOBILITY TOOL KIT
Some time was spend unpicking and explaining the MTK to those less experienced members of the team. This was a useful session in which many learnt how to complete this document easily and efficiently.

    5. REFLECTION
Time was spent reflecting on the Project as a whole. We all agreed that we had come a long way over the two years and that the Project had been a great success. We reflected on the many positive aspects of the project and highlighted the many wonderful moments we have all experienced on each of the visits. The success of eTwinning projects such as ‘European Child’, ‘Starfish’ and ‘Tree of Aspirations’ were flagged up as being most inspirational and great motivators for the children in their collaborative work with each other.

    6. AOB
The plans for the rest of the visit were discussed and amended in places due to some changes beyond our control (ie: cancellation of boat trip from Dartmouth due to adverse weather conditions had to be changed.)
