task 8: mission in Poland

  • Ambassadors.
My name is Rosalie and I am responsible for folklore issues in the Culture Department. Your mission in Thessaly has had a good impact on HISTORY.
Tyrnavos, you are to explore Varmia. Find a place which wears fifteen-century signs of new thinking about the Universe. HISTORY needs to hear you shouting the name of the man that left the signs in the gallery of his house. What do they prove?
Moreover, form a music band to glorify Varmia. Purda is to lead you, to help you and to develop the skills together with you.
You will both form teams to explore castles and learn the past of Olshtyn. Why didn't kings and queens live in them?
Your engagement is like fresh water. HISTORY needs pottery to tase it.
You are at the end of your hard way. Do not lose your concentration.
Remember, the report is a must.
    Rosalie.

"We did it!" - brave HISTORY Ambasssadors sighed with relief when on Tuesday, 14th May they reached the castle in Olsztyn and discovered Copernicus' astronomical table that shows the date of the spring equinox. They listened to the guide and did the crossword that revealed the name of the most famous inhabitant of the castle. They shouted his name and HISTORY has heard it!

Morover, they formed a band and glorified Varmia in a song they composed with the help of their music teachers. They used modern colourful instruments to accompany the melody. Ambassadors felt as special guests in Copernicus' refectory, a kind of dining room in the former buildings / castles for canons, bishops and other church authorities. They found out why kings didn't live in the Varmian castles: Varmia was ruled by bishops!

Unforgettable moments and new skills gained in Ethnographic Park in Olsztynek have resulted in variety of cups, bowls, pots and other clay creations. The Ambassadors could also practice decorating. It was their second meeting with a Prussian warior statue: a soft hadmade toy, a clay statue ... Will they meet the original one?

They got it! The original stone Prussian warior is in the courtyard of the castle in Olsztyn.
