from the history of the town

On Tuesday 27/11/2018 all the students of our school went to the theatre to see the NEW musical "What a Kujeba you are!" composed by a local music school  teacher ( and conductor of Litomysl orchestra) Mr. David Lukáš. Most of the singers and actors are students of our school.

In the video below you can find more about the musical. And you can see Nela as one of the actresses and singers :-) :-) :-)

    MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE STORY

It is said that the city and its inhabitants were given their mocking name according to the cobbler Jakub Kujeba, who lived in Vysoké Mýto at the end of the 16th century. That the person of that name lived here is certain, the information is different as for what he was like. According to some people, he was argumentative, according to others he was stupid, and others say he was, on the contrary, cheerful, funny, imaginative, everywhere popular. And Kujeba was said to be also a good violinist, a sought after performer at weddings and other entertainment.

Another, most widespread story goes that when they expected Emperor Joseph II's to come, there was a mess. The Emperor, according to his habit, postponed his visit a day, and the councilmen of Vysoké Mýto believed he would not come at all, and ate the ready-made trout. They enjoyed it! But on the next day suddenly a His Majesty appeared, and what then? Something remained after the trout feast, and it was served to the Emperor. The Emparor liked them very much! But one of the gentlemen (perhaps a councilor or mayor) said, "Majesty, yesterday, however, the trout was better prepared." As the Emperor reacted, nobody knows exactly. Most rumors say that he asked the man what his name was. "Kujeba," was the answer. The emperor said, "So you are all „Kujebas“." (= meaning slies)

From this event, Vysoké Mýto and its surroundings are called "kujebina" and the inhabitants "Kujebas".

    100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia

On 28th October 1918 the Czech Republic became an independent country. So as to celebrate the students of our school created a short film. Then on 27th October we were in the cinema to watch together with a film called Gentle Waves that is about teens in 1989, the year when the era of socialism finally ended in Czechoslovakia.

We have taken out two epizodes of the students´ film and added subtitles so that you could watch it too and understand. It is about splitting up the republic in 1993 and "how the bus making factory Karosa/Iveco was founded". Don´t take it seriously - we wanted to amuse you. Enjoy.

How Czechoslovakia got split in 1993

How Mr Sodomka started a new and successful bus factory
