School Show

On 31/1 there was a School Show where all the classes performed. Most of the performances were sketches or dance shows. Kvarta class´s performance won the competition and the students will have a special day off so that they can go on an extra school excursion. Find out a bit more in the video.

MASOPUST = CARNIVAL

Carnival parades with masks at Hlinecko is a folklore tradition in Eastern Bohemia, registered in 2010 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Festivals to ensure good harvest, fertility and welcome spring, perhaps originated in the pre-Christian epoch.

The carnival parade at Hlinecko takes the form of a walk around the village. It has strict rules on the number of masks and their sequence in the procession. The first mask must be the mare, the last always the knacker. Other masks are laufr, woman, Turk, straw, chimney-pot, or grocer. Masks are divided into black and red. Visitors are without exception scuffed with soot. The procession is housed in every house. At the end of the parade, the mare is first executed and then symbolically rises from the dead.
