THE HIDDEN TREASURE GAME- INTEGRATION OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES IN THE LOCAL HISTORY SUBJECT

As part of the local history subject, we read about Preveza’s  History and about several monuments associated with it. We thought it would be a good idea to have our guests from Greenland and France get to know more about some of them. In order to make it as pleasant as possible we decided to do it in the form of a game. So we played "the Hidden treasure game."

    "Game description and rules"

We selected 10 places in Preveza,  we took photos and found information about them. We then incorporated the photos into a map of Preveza. These were done with the valuable cooperation of the teacher of Art of our school. The information was translated into English as part of teaching English at school.

The students from our school were divided into pairs and each pair "adopted" a monument.

Our foreign friends were divided into two teams.

The two teams had to look at the map of Preveza and find the 10 points one by one. A pair of the Greek team was waiting for them at each point. At each monument, the foreign students found  information about its history and then they were asked questions about the information they had received. For every correct answer they won a card.

At the end of the journey the two foreign teams met with a committee of Greek students. There, we counted how many cards each team had collected and timed how long they would need to complete a puzzle with a photo of Preveza. The winner was the team that had collected the most cards and completed the puzzle in the shortest time.

The game ended with the best impressions for all of us. It was fun and entertaining ; it brought us all closer and gave the opportunity to both our friends and us to learn a lot about the history of our city.
